Winters JUSD offers a wide variety of Expanded Learning Programs that include Winters Afters School ELP, Winters Summer ELP as well as other enrichment programs.

Expanded Learning Programs (ELP)

TK–8th Grade | Afterschool & Summer

Our Expanded Learning Programs provide students with a safe, engaging environment to continue learning beyond the school day and school year. Through a balance of academics, enrichment, and recreation, students build skills, stay active, and remain connected to school.

Programs are offered at no cost to families and are funded through ASES, 21st CCLC, and ELO-P.


School Year Program (2026–2027)

Program Information

  • Registration Opens: May 5, 2026 at 8:00 AM (Online via Attendly)
  • Grades Served: TK–6th
  • Schedule: End of school day – 6:00 PM (Monday–Friday, school days)
  • Cost: Free
  • Meals: Daily nutritious PM snack provided

Program Locations:

  • TK–2nd: Waggoner Elementary
  • 3rd–5th: Shirley Rominger Intermediate
  • 6th-8th: Winters Middle School

What Students Experience

  • Academic Support: Homework help and skill-building
  • Literacy: Daily reading opportunities
  • Enrichment: STEM, crafts, clubs, and hands-on learning
  • Recreation: Physical activity, games, and social play

Attendance Expectations

Daily participation is required in alignment with ASES, 21st CCLC, and ELO-P requirements.

  • Students are expected to attend consistently and remain until program end time
  • Early release is limited and must follow program policy
  • Attendance is documented daily for compliance and funding purposes

Summer Program

Mission

Our summer program provides a fun, safe, and structured environment where students continue learning and growing while minimizing summer learning loss.


Program Information

  • Grades Served: TK–6th
  • Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and snack included
  • Cost: Free

What Students Experience

  • Academics: Math and language arts support
  • Enrichment: STEM, arts, and interactive learning
  • Recreation: Group games and physical activity
  • Nutrition: Daily meals provided

Consistent daily attendance is required to support student success and meet program requirements.

Attendance Recovery

Attendance Recovery allows students to make up missed instructional time through participation in the Expanded Learning Program.

  • Embedded within both afterschool and summer programs
  • Includes academic support, enrichment, and structured activities
  • Attendance and participation are documented in compliance with program requirements

This approach supports continued learning while meeting state and grant attendance guidelines.
