Hi, my name is Maricarmen Suárez. I am the Parent Engagement Coordinator for the Winters Unified School District. I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with YOUR families. Let me tell you a little about myself: I have resided in Woodland since I was 15 years old, when I immigrated to the United States from Mexico. I have a bachelor's degree in Spanish and Sociology from the University of California, Davis, and I also have a master's degree in TESOL from CSU San Bernardino. I have more than 5 years of experience working in higher education, where I have had the opportunity to closely support students and their families.As the Parent Engagement Coordinator, I will be a liaison between the school and the parents/guardians and relay the needs of one another. My goal is to collaborate with parents to involve them in decision-making, and provide information to those who are interested in understanding the educational system so that they become better advocates for the education of their children.I am looking forward to meeting all the parents and guardians of this district.

Hola, mi nombre es Maricarmen Suárez. Soy la coordinadora de participación de los padres del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Winters. Estoy muy emocionada de tener la oportunidad de trabajar con SUS familias. Un poco sobre mí: he residido en Woodland desde los 15 años, cuando emigré a los Estados Unidos desde México. Soy licenciada en Español y Sociología por la Universidad de California, Davis, y también tengo una maestría en TESOL de CSU San Bernardino. Cuento con más de 5 años de experiencia trabajando en educación superior, donde he tenido la oportunidad de apoyar de cerca al estudiantado y sus familias.Como Coordinadora de participación de las madres y padres, seré un enlace entre la escuela y las madres/ padres/ tutores y transmitiré las necesidades de cada uno. Mi objetivo es colaborar con los padres y madres para involucrarlos en la toma de decisiones, así como brindarles información a los que estén interesados en comprender el sistema educativo para que se conviertan en mejores defensores de la educación de sus hijas e hijos.Tengo muchas ganas de conocer a todos los padres, madres y tutores de este distrito.

Hi, my name is Humberto Jimenez. I am a Parent Engagement Coordinator for the Winters Joint Unified School District. I am very excited to get to work with the great families of Winters. A little bit about myself: I was born and raised in Woodland California, and  a son of immigrant parents. I attended Woodland Community college where I received my AA in Social sciences and an AA in Business Administration. I transferred  to California State University of Sacramento  and received a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, which made me a first generation graduate. Being the first in my family to go to college has given me the desire to help others make that happen for themselves and I hope to encourage others to follow that same path as well.

COORDINADORA DE PARTICIPACIÓN DE LOS PADRES

Hola, mi nombre es Humberto Jimenez. Yo soy el coordinador de participación de padres en el distrito de winters Joint Unified school y estoy muy contento de tener el honor y placer de poder trabajar con las familias de Winters. Un poco sobre mí, yo nací en la ciudad de Woodland, CA. Soy hijo de padres inmigrantes. Yo fui al colegio de Woodland Community College donde recibí mi A.A. en Ciencias sociales y A.A. Administración de empresas. Luego me transferí a la Universidad de California de Sacramento donde recibí mi título en Justicia penal. Soy la primera generación en graduarse de la universidad de mi familia.  Siendo el primero de la familia en atender la universidad se lo difícil que es el desgaste y esfuerzo que hay que tener. Con esas herramientas que he aprendido tengo el deseo de ayudar al prójimo en cumplir esas metas por ellos mismos y tengo la esperanza de alentar a los estudiantes y padres que quieran salir adelante.
