Winters Joint Unified School District will continue to implement all measures recommended by public health leaders to protect the health and safety of our students, our staff, and our community throughout this public health emergency. Winters JUSD works in close consultation with Yolo County Public Health and the Yolo County Office of Education, and follows guidance from California Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Public Health. The COVID-19 public health emergency is a fluid situation. Facts and circumstances may change quickly, and we will regularly post updates to our website as circumstances dictate.
To ensure a safe and welcoming 2022 - 2023 school experience, and in support of the health of staff, students, and families, Winters JUSD is continuing to follow the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Yolo County Public Health (YCPH) guidance and protocols. Students and Staff with Symptoms, Test Positive, or Close Contact: Follow theYCPH Guidance and Symptom Decision Tree
If your child has any symptoms that are consistent with COVID-19 symptoms, and has been exposed and/or these symptoms cannot be explained by other personal health conditions for which they have been evaluated by a medical provider, then they should be tested and provide proof of negative COVID-19 test before returning to school.
Depending on the severity of the student’s symptoms and other relevant circumstances (such as increased COVID-19 cases at your student's school), the school may require your student to test for COVID-19 and provide proof of negative test before returning to school.
If your student has repeated and/or prolonged symptoms that are due to a condition other than COVID-19 (ex: allergies), then a doctor’s note should be obtained and brought to school.
If members of the student’s household or other close contacts are positive for COVID-19, it is recommended the student be tested at least once 3-5 days after exposure. Exposed students, regardless of vaccination status, may continue to attend school and participate in activities unless they develop symptoms or test positive.
All positive cases must follow current regulatory guidelines for isolation.
Face Masks: Face masks are strongly recommended for all students and staff, especially when indoors. Face masks will be available for students and staff at all District sites.
Hand Hygiene: Encourage proper hand hygiene by washing with soap and water, especially before and after eating. Hand sanitizer will be available to all students and staff.
COVID-19 Cleaning: When a positive case is identified, custodial teams will continue deep cleaning practices at all district schools/sites. Cleaning materials for staff will also continue to be provided following the same practices as last school year.
Contact Tracing: Contact tracing protocols remain the same. In the event of a positive test, students and staff in a classroom are all considered exposed, and families will receive the classroom exposure letter. All staff on campus or in an office will receive the all staff exposure letter when there is a positive case on campus or in the office. Staff who are identified as a close contact to a positive case will receive an email or call from a school administrator, supervisor, or the Winters JUSD Health Team.
Weekly Mandated Testing of Unvaccinated Staff: The CDPH employee COVID-19 vaccine mandate is still in effect. Staff who are unvaccinated must continue to follow the same weekly testing procedures as required in the 2021-2022 school year and throughout the summer.
COVID-19 Testing: Options for COVID-19 testing for Winters JUSD students and staff are listed below:
- Campus Clinic testing center is still open to students, staff, families, and community members Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm at the District Office.
- All sites will have a supply of Rapid Antigen COVID Tests.
- Regular COVID test distribution events will be scheduled and announced.
