Attendance and Tardy Policy |

If a student is absent from school or tardy in excess of 30 minutes, a parent must contact the school. If a phone call is not possible, the student is responsible to bring the office a note signed by the parent, which states the dates and reason for the absence. Oversleeping and non-functioning alarms are unexcused! Students who “cut” class or school are referred to the assistant principal. When students need to leave school for doctor, dental, or other appointments, School Board policy requires that a student not be allowed to leave campus unless a parent or guardian comes to the school and sign the child out at the time of departure. Students are expected to make up schoolwork during an absence. It is the student’s responsibility to check with each teacher for make up work the day the student returns to school. After students have been absent for three days they can call for homework to be colleted. It is recommended that the student ask a fellow classmate to notify them of assignments. NOTE: Any student absent from school for any reason other than medical/doctor appointments on the day of an athletic event or other school activity may not participate in that activity.
Tardy Policy Students are expected to arrive to all classes on time. They should expect the following consequences if they are tardy: 3rd Tardy—15 minutes detention with teacher 4th Tardy—30 minutes detention after-school with office 5th Tardy—1 hour detention after-school with office 6th Tardy—3 hour detention Wednesday after school with office

Independent Study
Independent Study contracts are only granted for students who will be absent for five school days or more.
Parents must obtain an Independent Study contract from the school office.
This contract must be reviewed in a meeting with the parent, student, administrator and/or counselor at least 5 school days prior to the student’s absence. |
