Thank you for your interest in teaching in the Winters Joint Unified School District. The Winters School District serves approximately 1,700 students in grades K-12. Our students are from the community of Winters and surrounding rural areas in Yolo County and a small northern portion of Solano County. Our staff and school enjoy strong community suppory. We have a long-standing tradition of low class size and working together to provide a quality education for each and every one of our students. Please review the information included on this website to help you determine if the Winters School District is the right choice for you.
 
 
One of our most important responsibilities in the field of education is the recruitment and selection of hight quality competent teachers. We believe the teacher is the key person to initiate and develop student learning and growth. We want the very best teachers for our students. Included for your review is a brief description of the selection process used by the Winters School District.
  • All certificated teaching positions are posted and advertised.
  • The application process begins with the completion of an application packet including:
    • Application form (PDF)
    • Letter of interest
    • Resume
    • Letters of reference and/or Placement File
    • Copies of transcripts, if available
  • Telephone Screening Questions:
    • Selected applicants are interviewed by telephone using a series of questions (less than 10) to determine eligibility.
  • Phase I Interview:
    • Selected applicants participate in an initial interview. The interview is comprised of 15-25 questions that are general in nature. Responses are intended to be brief and to the point. The interview usually lasts less than 45 minutes.
  • Phase II Interview:
    • Selected applicants will participate in an interview conducted by a site team. The interview will focus on a specific assignment at a school site. The interview team is usually composed of the principal, teachers, and a parent. The interview is usually less than one hour in length.
  • Demonstration Lesson:
    • Applicants selected as finalists will prepare and present a short demonstration lesson in a classroom of the selected site. The lesson is usually 30 minutes in length.
